Asthma and Allergy Research Activities During the COVID-19 Outbreak

In order to keep our participants and staff safe we have suspended most of our research activities. Our building at St Mary’s Hospital is being used as part of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust’s response to the outbreak, so you should not attempt to visit us. You can still contact us by email, telephone or post but you may experience a delayed response.

We expect that most, if not all of our team will be re-deployed to help elsewhere in the NHS, but in the meantime we are all working remotely from home or other locations around the Island.

If you are a participant on the 3rd Generation Study, we will, where possible conduct questionnaires by email, telephone or post. Follow-ups when your child is 3 or 6 years of age will be delayed until after the outbreak. If you have received information about the 3rd Generation Study and wish to take part, you still can, we will accept your consent by post and we can complete some questionnaires by email, telephone or post.

If you are taking part in the Dyson Asthma Trial, you should have received a letter already to explain how the study will be affected by the outbreak. You can continue to contact the study team if you need to, but you may experience a delayed response.

For studies being led from another research site, you will receive information from the lead site regarding the study and how to contact the study team should you need to.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our study participants for their help with our research, we hope that you all stay safe and we very much look forward to working with you very soon.

Best Wishes

The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre
